the beat is so butter

eric b and rakim - i ain't no joke

ah drum machine classic with a little jb sample thrown in and some super sly lines. "i got a question, as serious as cancer"

liars - mr you're on fire mr

yea this one is upbeat and crashes around the dance punk scene with killer style. these guys got real goofy on their album after this one (they threw us all in a trench and stuck a monument on top).

weezer - my best friend

off the new make believe album from the weeezah that most certainly is not as bad as that terrible beverly hills piece of garbage. this song is surprisingly tiiiight.

matmos - lipostudio...and so on

electronic wizard duo crafts up some soothing beats with a lot of surgery sounds thrown in. hott

do the whirlwind

m. ward - helicopter
m. ward - big boat

helicopter is a little old timesey song for peeps. from the dope album transfiguration of vincent. m ward also has a new album out which has the song big boat. both are rocking compared to the rest of their respective albums, which often have more a tuning out chilling on the porch in the summer while listening to the chirping of crickets in mississippi sound. but it's good. real good.

stereolab - cybele's reverie

french dub pop thats smooth as a penguin ice sculpture. haha sorry my writing seems to get worse and worse, it's incredible. off of the album emperor tomato ketchup.

famous blue raincoat

of montreal - requiem for o.m.m.2.

this song is catchy and super sunny and i would pretty much kill to write a chorus as loveable as this. i'm not sure what omm2 stands for but yea on this sunlandic twins album this song is one among many very good songs, although i still am enjoying satanic panic in the attic a wee bit more. can't wait to see 'em live.

figurine - heartfelt

oh yea so figurine has cool beats. beats beats beats.

hazy saturday afternoon

leo kottke - watermelon

holy snikeys this is some on fire acoustic string picking. total virtuoso. from the 1971 album 6 and 12 string guitar.

love - alone again or

going even further back in time for this 67 influential psych folk rock piece. great orchestra movements adding to the mood of the song, which already has slick spanish sounding guitar lines. simply bananas.

oh soul wax

talib kweli - never been in love

so i saw talib and although his set was so short it packed too much energy to be dismissed as anything less than dope. chops (couple posts down) worked the tables and had some crazy spins as the duo went to work covering all the blackstar basics and getting into new shit like this.

joe jackson - is she really going out with him

an old school favorite of mine.

keepin you on your toes

nina simone - little girl blue (postal service remix)

off the new verve remixed album. i think the vocals could be mixed a little higher, but it's still a very well produced song.

chops - get that mutha (extended outro)

way too fresh, for serious. great soul throwback hip hop beat.

lust for life

duvall - standing at the door

former smoking popes frontman who suddenly found jesus and all that, started a new band, and made some great songs without turning into a total cheesy christ loving monster. this is catchy.

amon tobin - stoney street

yea, so sometimes i lay down some jazz and i keep it real smooooth.

grab the microphone

figurine - way too good (too good mix)

figurine is hott, ripping 80s style and sticking some new electro beats under some good vocals. i could put up ten great songs off their albums by these bro bros, but instead i'm putting up this remix for the blue bell records label comp because of its crystal clear production when compared to the original.

gang starr - moment of truth
rough house survivors - can u dig it

both some earlier hip hop tracks that you should be diggin.
